Job Description:
Reporting to the Assistant Director for Campus Life, the Coordinator for Student Involvement will serve as LSU Campus Life’s dedicated champion for student organizations and involvement. This role leads the Campus Life Ambassadors program, a team of 15 student leaders who provide front desk support, event assistance, and peer-to-peer outreach. The coordinator also oversees key student organization processes including annual registration, officer eligibility verification, officer and advisor trainings, and the event approval workflow. By streamlining these systems and empowering student leaders, the coordinator ensures that student organizations can thrive, helping students build community, grow as leaders, and enhance their overall success at LSU.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE:

Direct daily operations of the Campus Life Ambassadors program, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and ongoing development.

Manage student organization processes including annual registration, student organization and advisor training, officer eligibility verification, event approval workflows, and policy compliance.

Advise and support student leaders, providing coaching on leadership, organizational development, and event planning.

Serve as a primary point of contact for students seeking involvement opportunities and help connect them with resources across campus.

ABOUT THE DIVISION OF STUDENT AFFAIRS PRIORITIES:
Three priorities guide our work in the Division of Student Affairs. Foremost, we maintain a commitment to quality which is rooted in the belief that LSU students deserve our best effort. Every interaction we have with students should communicate care, relevance, polish, and attention to detail. We work to ensure every space, place, and staff-to-student interaction communicates a sense of home to students. Finally, we design programs, services, events, and experiences with everyone in mind.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Support (40%) - Coordinates logistics and operations for one or more programs, events, experiences, or services related to student involvement. Oversees expenditures for one or more events, experiences, or services within the assigned function.
Direct Student Support (25%) - Advise students individually on providing frontline service and support. Translates department efforts, initiatives, and goals to students through interactions at programs, services, events, and experiences. Serve as the liaison between students and the leadership in the unit. Responsible for support and coaching, event planning, curriculum design, facilitation, assessment and campus collaborations related to the assigned function.
Administrative Support (20%) - Responsible for day-to-day operations for Student Involvement and the Campus Life Ambassadors program through administrative management. Processes departmental expenditures.
Quality Control (10%) - Ensures every aspect of student involvement outputs including administrative tasks, implementation, and overall design exudes a high degree of quality. Embraces and executes the marginal gains approach and seeks to increase the level of all services, events, programs, and experiences in department for continuous improvement every academic year.
Other Duties As Assigned (5%) - Other duties as assigned by the Director of Campus Life and direct supervisor. This includes but is not limited to: efforts that support broad division/institution efforts including at least 40 hours per year spent helping divisional initiatives such as Move-In Day, Welcome Week, Family Weekend, Career Expo, Disability Services Finals Testing, other special projects etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/EXPECTATIONS:
As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students, or the appropriate law enforcement agency. This position requires the ability and willingness to work some evening and weekend hours.
