Cost Accountant – Landscaping background / Construction experience

The Cost Accountant monitors, analyzes, and reports on project costs to ensure accurate financial management and support strategic decisions, playing a key role in the company's cost control and profitability for construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Cost Allocation Review

• Review and verify the accuracy of cost allocations for each construction project to ensure correct recording and reporting.

2. Direct Cost Monitoring

• Monitor and analyze direct material costs, ensuring correct supplier pricing and tracking cost fluctuations.

3. Supplier Cost Comparisons

• Verifying cost comparisons between suppliers to identify savings opportunities and improve procurement efficiency.

4. Budget Adherence Validation

• Collaborate closely with the procurement and project teams to validate spending against approved budgets.

5. Reporting and Variance Analysis

• Prepare cost reports and perform variance analyses to identify discrepancies between actual and budgeted costs and recommend corrective actions.

6. Budget Setting and Monitoring

• Assist in developing project budgets and continuously monitor actual spending versus budgeted figures.

7. Compliance and Standards

• Ensure all cost accounting activities comply with company policies, financial controls, and relevant accounting standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
• Prior experience in construction cost accounting or a similar role.
• Proficiency in accounting software (such as ERP systems) and Microsoft Excel.
