Cost Estimator

Cost Estimator in Qatar.

The Cost Estimator will assist in preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project requirements, and supporting the tendering and procurement processes. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for learning within a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates for construction projects (materials, labor, equipment, overheads, and contingencies).

Review project drawings, specifications, and BOQs to identify scope, quantities, and cost components.

Support the tendering process by collecting quotations, verifying supplier pricing, and preparing comparative analyses.

Maintain and update cost databases, rate libraries, and historical cost records.

Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and planning teams to ensure alignment of estimates with project requirements.

Participate in post-tender reviews, clarifications, and cost adjustments.

Contribute to value engineering exercises and cost optimization initiatives.

Ensure all estimates and documentation comply with company standards and Qatar construction regulations.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.

4 to 6 years of experience in cost estimation or quantity surveying within the construction industry.

Familiarity with tendering, procurement, and cost control processes.

Working knowledge of estimation software (e.g. Candy, CostX, Excel-based models).

Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and pricing.

Excellent analytical, numerical, and communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines under pressure.

Preferred Skills

Experience in Qatar’s construction market or GCC region.

Knowledge of FIDIC contracts and local pricing benchmarks.

Certification or coursework in cost estimation or quantity surveying is an advantage.
