We are seeking a dynamic Cotton Trader to join our global trading team. This role offers a unique opportunity to grow within a fast-paced international commodities environment by contributing trading ideas, supporting business operations, and actively participating in the development of cotton-related strategies, research, and execution processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Map the end-to-end cotton supply chain from producers to end-users
Develop a comprehensive understanding of the cotton industry from field to finished product
Monitor and analyse domestic and international cotton flows
Support operational, logistical, and marketing activities to meet business targets
Build and maintain trading databases with historical and market data
Assist in managing cotton purchase and sales contracts
Liaise with suppliers, agents, and buyers to coordinate shipments and transactions
Oversee and manage outstanding sales and purchase contracts
Support FX (foreign exchange) activities in coordination with the treasury team
Manage internal trading systems, MIS reporting and data accuracy
Maintain and enhance balance sheets and contribute to trading strategies for West Africa
Education, Experience and Skills:
Degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics or International Trade
5–10 years of relevant experience in commodities trading (preferably in cotton or softs)
Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities, excellent communication and negotiation skills, attention to detail, ability to work under pressure
Proficiency in MS Excel and trading-related IT systems
Fluency in French is required
In-depth knowledge of cotton market dynamics and product fundamentals
Solid understanding of basis trading, balance sheets, futures and options
Awareness of both domestic and international commodity exchanges
Familiarity with commercial terms and contract structures
Proactive and self-driven attitude with ability to contribute ideas and insights
