Counselor

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and group counseling to patients dealing with acute or chronic medical conditions, trauma, terminal illness, or post-operative recovery.
• Support patients and their families in adjusting to diagnoses, treatment plans, and hospitalization.
• Conduct psychosocial assessments, develop intervention plans, and maintain progress notes in accordance with hospital policy.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, etc.) to integrate mental health support into patient care.
• Offer crisis intervention and support during medical emergencies or high-stress situations (e.g., ICU, emergency, palliative care units).
• Educate patients and families on coping strategies, stress management, and community resources.
• Refer patients to specialized mental health services when necessary (e.g., psychiatrists, addiction counselors).
• Provide support to hospital staff during high-stress periods or after traumatic patient care events.
• Participate in staff training, wellness initiatives, and patient care planning sessions.

Qualifications:

• Education:

Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field from a recognized institution.

• Licensure/Certification:

Licensed or registered counselor/therapist as per local regulations (e.g., RCI registration in India, LPC/LMHC in the US, etc.)

• Experience:
• Minimum 2–5 years of counseling experience in a hospital or clinical healthcare setting.
• Experience in working with patients facing chronic illness, trauma, grief, or psychiatric comorbidities is highly preferred.
• Skills:
