Court and Community Coordinator

Goal: To provide direct, trauma-informed services to survivors of intimate partner and sexual violence, and stalking across The Haven’s five-county service area, and to engage in outreach activities with individuals and community partners.

Qualifications: A qualified candidate for this role will:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, counseling, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, lived experience, or interest in working with survivors of intimate partner and sexual violence.
  • Basic understanding of, or willingness to learn about, the dynamics and impact of intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and stalking.
  • General awareness of, or willingness to learn about, legal options and community resources available to survivors.
  • Demonstrate the ability and willingness to work with a diverse population in a culturally responsive manner.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to listen actively and communicate clearly in both verbal and written formats.
  • Interest in developing crisis intervention and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace (email and Drive), and willingness to learn data entry systems.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team, with openness to feedback and supervision.
  • Foundational understanding of trauma-informed practices, or willingness to learn and apply these approaches in daily work.
  • Hold a valid Virginia driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Direct Services:

Provide trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and culturally relevant services to survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and/or stalking, including:

  • Providing accurate information on the civil and criminal legal system, survivor rights, and available gender-based violence legal remedies to support informed decision-making.
  • Offering advocacy and court accompaniment for survivors across the five-county service area.
  • Providing crisis intervention, advocacy, information, and referrals based on each survivor’s self-identified needs and goals.
  • Collaborate with survivors to develop individualized safety plans that prioritize well-being and autonomy.
  • Providing or coordinating transportation for program participants when needed and safe to do so, to support access to services and participation in the criminal justice process.
  • Participating in on-call duties as outlined by agency protocols.

2. Data, Reporting, and Grant Compliance:

  • Accurately document, record, and report all survivor data and services provided in compliance with grant requirements.
  • Support the Advocacy Team and Executive Director in achieving program goals and evaluating program effectiveness.
  • Prepare and submit timely, accurate grant-funded progress reports as assigned.

3. Community Outreach and Collaboration:

  • Engage in outreach, education, and training for community members/organizations, allied professionals, and survivors.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community partners to enhance coordinated responses to survivors.
  • Attend and actively participate in community collaboration meetings as needed or assigned.

4. Additional Responsibilities:

  • Attend and contribute to staff meetings.
  • Complete a minimum of 20 hours of in-service or job-related training annually.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Advocacy Coordinator or Executive Director.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
