The Position

In this role, you will perform administrative, paralegal, and customer service duties. You will process filings in civil, small claims, appeals, post-conviction relief, and habeas corpus cases. This will include reviewing and processing all motions, proposed judgments, and stipulations for proper use of forms and compliance with applicable rules and statutes, processing requests for default and default judgments, and properly entering information into the CourtView motion tracking program. This position requires communication in writing, in person, or by telephone with attorneys and self-represented parties providing information on court cases, forms, and legal procedures.

You will also assist customers (self-represented litigants, attorneys, and other agencies) at the public service counter. This will include receipting cash, check and credit card payments, reviewing new cases and pleadings for compliance with court rules and procedures before accepting, processing marriage license and marriage commissioner applications, and assisting with retrieving copies from scanned and microfilmed archive records.

You will cross-train and provide back-up support to other positions, may assist with training of Court Case Managers, prepare files for microfilming, process civil and small claims records requests, and assist other departments as needed.

The work performed by a Court Case Manager 2 requires an in-depth knowledge of court rules and application of technical legal processes and procedures and calls for the use of independent judgment and high attention to detail and accuracy under time constraints.


Work Hours:

Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of advanced clerical work experience equivalent to a Court Case Manager 1 with the Alaska Court System or an equivalent position with another employer.


OR

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND completion of a two-year paralegal curriculum from an accredited institution.


OR


A bachelor's degree from an accredited college.

SELECTION PROCEDURE
Applicants will be required to meet the Minimum Qualifications as outlined above. Unfortunately, we cannot always interview all applicants.
