The City of Seabrook is seeking a detail-oriented and service-focused Court Clerk I to join our Municipal Court team. Under the general supervision of the Director of Municipal Court Services, this position performs a variety of entry-level administrative, clerical, and technical duties to support the daily operations of the Municipal Court. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, customer-service driven, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
Provide exceptional customer service by phone, email, mail, fax, chat, and in person, addressing questions about court policies, fines, warrants, payment plans, and court settings.
Collect, reconcile, and record payments (fines, fees, bonds) using Incode software.
Scan and upload documents into Tyler Content Manager and enter citations into the system.
Assist defendants with payment plans, community service, compliance dismissals, and other resolution options.
Process surety bonds, cash bonds, and pleas of not guilty; schedule hearings and pretrials.
Review and verify proof of insurance, time-served requests, community service timesheets, DSC certificates, and driving records for compliance eligibility.
Prepare courtroom for dockets, prepare summons and certified mail for juvenile cases.
Process incoming and outgoing mail, open records requests, and release/enter license holds in Omnibase FTA Program.
Prepare legal documents requiring judicial signature (summons, complaints).
Assist Judge, Prosecutor, Director, and court staff as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED.
Valid Texas Driver's License with good driving record.
Knowledge of basic computer skills and standard office equipment.
Ability to obtain Texas Municipal Court Clerk Level I Certification and TLETS Certification within 12 months of hire (and maintain certification thereafter).
Preferred:
Two (2) years of general office, clerical, or customer service experience.
Experience in cash handling, posting, and reconciliation.
Bilingual (English/Spanish).
Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure with frequent interruptions.
Skill in performing mathematical calculations and maintaining accurate records.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Work is primarily performed in an office or courtroom setting.
Requires intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and lifting up to 10 lbs. (occasionally up to 50 lbs.).
Must have full mobility in upper and lower body and be able to climb ladders as needed.
Requires close, distance, color, and peripheral vision as well as the ability to hear and speak effectively.
