Job Summary

The Crane Operator (Billets) is responsible for operating overhead cranes to handle and transport steel billets within the production and storage areas. The role requires precision, strong awareness of safety standards, and experience in handling heavy loads in steel plant environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate overhead cranes for lifting, moving, and positioning steel billets.
• Coordinate with production teams to ensure smooth material flow.
• Inspect cranes, hooks, slings, and lifting accessories before operation.
• Follow load charts and ensure safe lifting practices at all times.
• Maintain daily crane operation logs and report abnormalities.
• Ensure billets are placed accurately in designated locations.
• Communicate effectively with ground personnel for safe signaling.
• Adhere to all plant safety rules and lifting regulations.

Requirements

• Valid overhead crane operating certification preferred.
• Minimum 2–3 years of crane operation experience in steel plants or heavy industry.
• Strong understanding of lifting procedures, load limits, and safety guidelines.
• Ability to work at heights and in high-temperature environments.
• Good coordination, communication, and alertness during lifting operations.
• Physically fit and willing to work in shifts.
