Job Summary

The Credit Balance Specialist examines all credit balances before refunds or adjudications. They must comply with Billing and Coding Laws and the Baylor Scott & White Code and Ethical Conduct Policy.

Essential Functions of the Role

• Accountable for all patient credit balances.
• Consistently works to ensure all credit balances are handled in a timely manner.
• Can figure out why an account has a credit balance with little or no supervision.
• Examines the patient account for posting errors before considering refund/adjudication.
• Searches for other related accounts before refunding private pay credit balances.
• Knows the Managed Care contracts and contractual adjustments.
• Ensures timely processing of credit balance paperwork and posting.
• Monitors and reports up to management any trends that are identified.
• Documents productivity daily for reporting.
• Follows the quality review standards set forth.

• Must have an ergonomically set up workspace

QUALIFICATIONS

• EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
• EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience
