Job Description:

This position is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the LSU Student Union facility. This person must be capable of moving about in a 305,000 square foot building multiple times daily to clean and prepare ballrooms, meeting/conference rooms, lobbies, office space, and exterior sidewalks, patios, and balconies. The person must also be able to ascend and descend the stairs of a 4 story building multiple times daily and stand for extended periods during cleaning processes. They must also be capable to stoop, kneel, and crouch to pick up litter, retrieve equipment, and clean restrooms, offices, lobbies, and maintain floors. This person should be capable of moving furniture that weighs 20 to 40 pounds or more and transport tables and chairs weighing 60-80 pounds to set-up for events throughout the building. Will use arms/hands to operate floor/power equipment used in preparing and maintaining floors. The person will work with and be exposed to common cleaning products. Due to the nature of the position and/or position responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67. In accordance with University Policy Statement 18, this position is considered essential and may be required to report or stay on campus in the event of emergency or closure.
Cleans lobbies, bathrooms, hallways, meeting rooms, billiards area, and administrative area of the union by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, and polishing. Mixes or blends cleaning solutions to proper concentrations as necessary - 30%
Responsible for set-ups and break downs associated with daily events in meeting rooms, lobbies, ballrooms, and exterior grounds - 25%
Cleans, strips, waxes and polishes floors using industrial size mops and commercial type floor machines. Fills commercial floor machines with cleaning solutions of proper concentration, empties unused solution into appropriate container - 20%
Cleans floor machines and checks and recharges batteries. Washes, rinses and dries industrial size wet mops, dust mops, and commercial floor pads. Operates wet dry vacuuming carpet extraction equipment and other commercial equipment as requires for cleaning and shampooing carpets - 10%
Empties (exterior and interior ) trash and recycling containers, transports waste material to outdoor refuse containers or recycling containers as needed. Cleans, decontaminates, and deodorizes waste containers using proper materials according to label directions - 10%
Performs other duties as may be assigned by Building Services supervisors, Managers, or other administrative personnel within the department - 5%

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Six months of experience in custodial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food service work.
