Customer Service Representative - Full Time - Days

The Customer Service Representative performs a variety of support duties within the DME department. The work performed in this position helps expedite the billing, fill orders for patients for DME items, and assist with sales in the storefront.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with completing billing for DME items in a timely manner and according to insurance guidelines
  • Remain current with insurance payers, health plans, and prior authorization processes
  • Assist with receiving inventory and unpacking, assembling, and stocking inventory in the DME storefront
  • Provide coverage to the DME storefront as needed - wait on customers, answering the phone, checking messages, and other necessary tasks that arise
  • Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers at all times
  • Complete necessary paperwork to ensure Medicare and insurance guidelines are met
  • Follow proper procedure for taking payments for items sold from the DME storefront and payments on accounts


Required Skills and Experience:

  • High School Diploma required; DME experience preferred.

  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with patients and team members a must.
  • This position requires excellent customer service skills, both internal and external, strong organizational skills, strong interpersonal communication skills combined with the ability to multitask, typing/keyboarding skills, basic math skills, and basic insurance knowledge, explanation of benefits and patient account knowledge.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting up to 50 pounds, standing or sitting for extended periods of time, as well as repetitive use of hands and fingers.

Location and Travel Requirements:

  • Onsite - Ithaca Mall - 40 Catherwood Road, Ithaca NY 14850
  • Shift - 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (Mon-Fri)

Compensation Disclosure:

  • $19.00 to $23.00 per hour
