Data Analytics Engineer

How you can make your mark

As a Data Analytics Engineer, you will be part of the IT Data Services team, working closely with business users across various departments to help them gain actionable insights from their data and create value for Boskalis.

You will support multiple projects by managing, analyzing, and reporting on data related to time writing, purchase orders, workforce planning, and more.

Your work will combine both technical and strategic responsibilities:

• Developing, optimizing, and maintaining interactive dashboards (primarily in Power BI) that drive informed decision-making.
• Assisting business content creators with guidance and best practices for BI analysis.
• Collaborating with stakeholders to define data needs, translate business questions into technical solutions.
• Managing the Power BI platform, including license administration, monitoring performance, and resolving operational issues.
• Contributing to the continuous improvement and long-term vision of the team in how we help our business to make data-driven decisions that deliver value.

Essential Requirements:

• 5+ years of proven experience in data analytics, BI consultancy and/or data engineering.
• Strong end-to-end Power BI skills — from requirements gathering, data modeling, and visualization to publishing reports and iterating based on feedback.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science or a related field.
• Proficiency in SQL for data selection and querying, with a solid understanding of ETL processes.
• Ability to translate business requirements into actionable dashboards and bridge communication between business and IT.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
• Comfortable managing multiple projects in dynamic and multi-cultural environments.

Preferred:

• Advanced data analytics and performance optimization techniques.
• Proficiency in Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, VBA).
• Experience with data warehousing, including Kimball and generic data modeling principles.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric and the Azure platform.
• Knowledge of AI applications in BI and how they can enhance analytics.
