POSITION SUMMARY
Under regular supervision of the Deputy Assessor, performs responsible technical work in the measuring, sketching, and listing of real property for assessment purposes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, and fingering; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for depth perception, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, use of measuring devices, operation of motor vehicles and equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and office equipment including an automobile, calculator, computer, copier, fax, printer, scanner, telephone, etc. Must be able to use and interpret real estate and appraisal terminology; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
Some knowledge of the principles and practices of real estate appraising for assessment purposes; some knowledge of building construction practices and building and land values; skill in the use of tools and equipment involved in assessment activities; ability to read and understand building construction plans and specifications; skill in freehand; ability to write clear and concise reports and mechanical lettering and in the use of drafting instruments; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public and co-workers.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School diploma or GED equivalent with some experience in general office work as well as performing work in the field and a minimum of 6 months of experience.
