We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Data Visualization Architect to lead the design and implementation of enterprise-grade dashboards and reporting solutions. This role will focus on Power BI as the primary visualization platform, while also leveraging Tableau for cross-platform integration and legacy support. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of data storytelling, user experience, scalable architecture principles and , and enterprise governance. The role is also need decent experience as a junior Data Architect or Data Engineer with understanding of Data Warehousing concepts.
Key Responsibilities:
Architect and implement interactive dashboards and reporting solutions using Power BI and Tableau.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate analytical needs into intuitive visualizations.
Define and enforce visualization standards, governance, and best practices across platforms.
Optimize performance and scalability of BI solutions across large datasets and complex models.
Work with Data Engineers to perform Data Wrangling & Data Preparation that can be consumed by Tableau or PowerBI.
Integrate data from various sources including ERP, Salesforce, Azure, Oracle, SQL Server using cloud-based ETL tools.
Lead visualization strategy for enterprise data products and self-service analytics.
Mentor and guide BI developers and analysts on visualization techniques and platform capabilities.
Partner with data architects and engineers to ensure alignment with data models and pipelines.
Stay current with emerging visualization technologies and recommend adoption strategies.
Own and maintain documentation for visualization architecture, standards, and solution designs.
Conduct and facilitate Communities of Practice to promote knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous improvement in data visualization.
Support governance initiatives by ensuring compliance with data policies, security protocols, and metadata management.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field
8+ years of experience in data visualization and BI architecture.
Expert-level proficiency in Power BI (DAX, Power Query, Dataflows, Service).
Strong working knowledge of Tableau (Desktop, Server, Prep).
Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and data warehouses (Snowflake or Oracle).
Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and performance tuning.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver enterprise-scale solutions.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Informatica, Matillion, or other ETL tools will be a plus.
Knowledge of data governance, security, and metadata management.
Certification in Power BI or Tableau is a plus.
Summary Pay Range:
$108,834.00 - $163,252.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
