Dental Assistant

Duties

  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental materials, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly using aseptic techniques.
  • Assist dentists during procedures such as restorations, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments by handing instruments and managing dental supplies.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays, including digital imaging and 3D scans, while adhering to infection control protocols and HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
  • Collect vital signs and medical history information from patients to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for documentation of procedures, medical coding, and maintaining accurate medical documentation.
  • Provide chairside assistance with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort during procedures.
  • Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, updating patient records, and ensuring smooth clinic flow.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic setting with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic; experience with medical records management is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
  • Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while adhering to HIPAA standards for patient confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles and experience assisting with pediatric patients is preferred.
  • Competence in taking vital signs, medical imaging, and supporting endodontic or prosthodontic treatments.
  • Excellent communication skills as a dental receptionist or in patient interactions; ability to explain procedures clearly.
  • Certification in dental assisting or related training; familiarity with 3D scanners and medical coding is advantageous. Embark on a rewarding career where your skills make a difference!
