Duties

  • Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort.
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and maintaining aseptic techniques in accordance with infection control protocols.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging such as 3D scans, ensuring accurate positioning and adherence to safety standards.
  • Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring all medical documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with HIPAA regulations.
  • Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, especially in pediatric dentistry settings.
  • Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, greeting patients as a dental receptionist, and managing medical coding for billing purposes.
  • Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment by following infection control guidelines and sterilization procedures consistently.

Experience

  • Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting with proficiency in dental assisting duties is required.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and best practices for safeguarding patient privacy is essential.
  • Experience with pediatric dentistry procedures and working with children is advantageous.
  • Competency in taking X-rays, including digital radiography and 3D imaging techniques.
  • Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques.
  • Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently using four-handed dentistry techniques while maintaining excellent patient care standards.
