Responsibilities
Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms with the necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and maintained according to infection control standards. Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced imaging tools such as 3D scanners and medical imaging devices; ensure proper radiographic techniques are followed. Manage patient records by updating medical documentation, medical records, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Support patients by taking vital signs, explaining procedures using clear dental terminology, and addressing their concerns with professionalism and empathy. Operate electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic to document treatment details accurately and efficiently. Maintain a sterile environment using aseptic techniques and proper infection control protocols while assisting chairside during procedures. Assist with medical coding for billing purposes and ensure accurate documentation of procedures performed in the dental clinic setting. Coordinate with the dental receptionist to schedule appointments, verify insurance information, and manage patient flow smoothly throughout the day. Stay informed about current dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and best practices in infection control to enhance overall clinic performance.

Qualifications
Previous experience working in a dental clinic environment is highly preferred; familiarity with dental assisting duties is essential. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is required; experience with medical coding and documentation is a plus. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and infection control standards ensures compliance and patient confidentiality at all times. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy, and various specialties including prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining safety standards for patients and staff. Excellent communication skills to effectively explain procedures using dental terminology to patients of all ages. A certification in dental assisting or related training program is preferred; ongoing professional development is encouraged. Demonstrated ability to support four-handed dentistry techniques for efficient treatment delivery; experience with medical imaging devices like 3D scanners is advantageous. Familiarity with vital signs monitoring and basic medical terminology enhances your ability to support comprehensive patient care.
