Duties

• Assist the dentist during a wide range of procedures including restorative, prosthodontic, endodontic, and pediatric treatments with precision and care.
• Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners are ready for use.
• Take high-quality dental radiographs (X-rays) while adhering to strict infection control standards and aseptic techniques.
• Manage patient flow efficiently by greeting patients, updating medical histories, taking vital signs, and documenting medical records accurately within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems like Open Dental
• Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical documentation, processing insurance claims, and maintaining organized patient files in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Assist with dental procedures involving anatomy knowledge and dental terminology to ensure accurate support during complex treatments like endodontics or prosthodontics.
• Implement infection control protocols consistently to maintain a safe clinical environment for patients and staff.
• Collaborate with the dental team using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize patient comfort and treatment efficiency.
• Educate patients on post-treatment care, oral hygiene practices, and preventive measures to promote long-term oral health.
• Support pediatric dentistry procedures by creating a friendly atmosphere that eases young patients’ anxieties while ensuring proper medical documentation.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic setting with familiarity in general dentistry procedures.
• Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, vital signs measurement, and infection control practices.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding for accurate documentation.
• Experience with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic is highly preferred.
• Ability to operate dental equipment including 3D scanners, X-ray machines, and other imaging tools confidently.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
• Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages—especially in pediatrics—and team members.
• Certification in radiography or X-ray technology required; additional certifications in pediatric dentistry or prosthodontics are advantageous.
• Commitment to maintaining aseptic techniques and infection control standards rigorously.
