Dental Assistant - Kokomo

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dental practice in Kokomo. The ideal candidate will support the clinical team by providing exceptional chairside assistance, ensuring infection control, and maintaining accurate medical records. This role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment focused on delivering high-quality dental care, including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics. The position involves working with medical imaging, and X-ray procedures. Applicants should be committed to patient comfort and safety while adhering to HIPAA regulations and aseptic techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the dentist during various procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available
  • Take and develop X-rays while maintaining proper radiation safety protocols
  • Record vital signs and medical history accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Open Dental.
  • Manage patient flow efficiently as a dental receptionist when needed
  • Ensure infection control standards are strictly followed to prevent cross-contamination
  • Provide chairside assistance using four-handed dentistry techniques for optimal patient care
  • Educate patients on oral health practices and post-treatment care instructions
  • Maintain detailed medical documentation and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations

Skills

  • Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry
  • Experience with X-ray procedures, vital signs measurement, and infection control protocols
  • Ability to perform chairside assisting with a focus on four-handed dentistry techniques
  • Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and pediatric patient management
  • Understanding of aseptic technique and sterilization procedures in a dental setting
  • Strong organizational skills for managing medical records and documentation accurately
  • Ability to work efficiently in a general dentistry environment with exposure to prosthodontics and endodontics procedures
  • Excellent communication skills for patient education and team collaboration
