Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and schedule appointments efficiently using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Assist the dental team during procedures by preparing instruments, taking x-rays, and maintaining sterilization protocols in accordance with OSHA standards
- Manage multi-line phone systems, answer patient inquiries with excellent phone etiquette, and handle intake processes smoothly
- Verify insurance benefits, perform insurance verifications, and process claims using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Review and update medical records, ensure accurate documentation review, and maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality
- Support medical billing by coding procedures accurately with CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), and ICD coding standards
- Maintain organized filing of medical records, manage appointment scheduling, and perform general clerical tasks such as data entry using Microsoft Office tools
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a dental office or clinic environment with strong knowledge of dental terminology and procedures
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or eClinicalWorks; experience with Epic, Meditech or Athenahealth is a plus
- Knowledge of medical billing, coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), insurance verification, and health information management practices
- Excellent customer service skills paired with professional phone etiquette and the ability to handle multi-line phone systems effectively
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; typing speed of at least 10 key digits per minute is preferred
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Prior clinic or medical office experience is preferred; familiarity with HIPAA compliance and medical documentation review processes is essential
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail in all administrative tasks
