Dental Hygienist

Duties

  • Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain oral health.
  • Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
  • Assist with chairside procedures in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency.
  • Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong oral health habits.
  • Follow strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to safeguard patients and staff from cross-contamination.
  • Collaborate with dentists and other team members to review documentation, assist with medical coding, and ensure seamless patient care delivery.
  • Working knowledge of Itero scanning and intra-oral photos.

Qualifications

  • Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current CPR certification.
  • Proven experience in dental office environments, including general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred.
  • Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with medical terminology and documentation review is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
  • Ability to perform vital signs measurement, medical imaging procedures, and patient assessment accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively while demonstrating professionalism and compassion.
