Deputy Manager - Loss & Prevention

Loss Prevention Strategy & Control

  • Implement and continuously refine Sapphire Retail’s Loss Prevention framework to minimize shrinkage, theft, and operational losses across stores in alignment with trading realities.
  • Develop, enforce, and monitor risk based LP controls covering inventory handling, assets handling, cash processes, stock movements, assets movements, and store security, ensuring controls are effective without disrupting customer experience or sales momentum.
  • Identify high risk stores, categories, and processes using shrinkage data, exception reporting, and on ground field intelligence to enable timely preventive action.

Audits, Investigations & Incident Management

  • Conduct regular and surprise loss prevention audits focusing on stock integrity, cash controls, and critical process vulnerabilities, while ensuring minimal disruption to trading and customer experience.
  • Lead structured investigations into inventory discrepancies, theft, fraud, policy violations, and misconduct, distinguishing between process failures and intentional breaches, in coordination with HR and Legal where applicable.
  • Prepare clear investigation reports outlining findings, root causes, financial impact, and recommendations for corrective and disciplinary action, and track closure of actions to prevent recurrence.

Shrinkage Analysis & Reporting

  • Monitor and analyze shrinkage trends at store, region, and category levels, identifying patterns, emerging risks, and root causes impacting inventory and cash integrity.
  • Maintain decision focused loss dashboards, audit trackers, and incident logs for review by operations, highlighting high risk areas and priority concerns.
  • Recommend preventive measures, control enhancements, and process improvements based on analytical insights, with focus on reducing repeat losses and strengthening loss prevention effectiveness.

Process Improvement & Risk Mitigation

  • Ensure timely closure and validation of corrective actions addressing operational gaps and control weaknesses contributing to inventory and cash losses.
  • Collaborate closely with Retail Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance to design and strengthen practical, risk-based process controls across inventory and cash handling.
  • Support the implementation and optimization of system-based controls, including ERP, POS, CCTV integration, and access management, ensuring controls are effective, scalable, and aligned with store trading realities.
