Design Engineer

Overview

Join an innovative AI product team as a Design Engineer, where your expertise will directly influence the development of accessible, high-quality front-end experiences. Sitting at the crossroads of design and front-end development, you will translate Figma designs into seamless, user-centric React components. This pivotal role requires a collaborative spirit, strong technical acumen, and a passion for accessible design, helping shape products that are both functional and inclusive for users worldwide.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in Figma, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, TypeScript, and React
• Extensive experience implementing WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards
• Strong understanding of UX principles, interaction design, and responsive layouts
• Experience in translating designs into production-ready code while maintaining design fidelity
• Familiarity with design systems, component libraries, and Git/GitHub version control
• Hands-on knowledge of AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot
• Ability to review and identify design and code defects, ensuring high-quality outputs
• Empathy for users with diverse needs, including those using assistive technologies
  
  

Nice To Have Skills

• Experience with AI-powered products, chat UI/UX, and streaming response patterns
• Knowledge of accessibility testing tools like axe, WAVE, or screen reader testing (NVDA, VoiceOver, JAWS)
• Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Jest, Testing Library, or Playwright
• Familiarity with design system evolution and surface gap analysis in collaboration with design teams
  
  

Preferred Education And Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Design, HCI, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• Minimum 5-7 years delivering high-quality digital product features, with at least 3-5 years in front-end development, particularly with React and TypeScript
• Proven track record working within agile teams on AI or conversational product interfaces
  
  

Other Requirements

• Comfortable working with existing codebases and contributing to ongoing feature development
• Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams including design, engineering, and product management
