Design Manager

JOB SCOPE

The Design Manager shall be responsible for the execution of a portfolio of projects under their assignment. Responsibilities consist of supervising and completing all activities associated with project design and development as well as providing oversight to the Business Development and Finance team with prospect review and due diligence for new opportunities in the market.

The Design Manager reports to the Head of Development in the current structure.

The Design Manager will work closely with the Development, Projects, Finance, Legal, Commercial and Marketing.

The Design Manager will also liaise with many external vendors in relation to consultancy and construction activities.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Design & Project Management:

• Design management from inception to completion including post contract support.
• Examining the design consultants to maximize quality and value while minimizing the risk profile for the project.
• Managing third party and client technical and constructability reviews of deliverables.
• Managing designer procurement, contracts and performance.
• Engaging the technical resources required to challenge the designers to obtain the most beneficial balance of quality, value and risk overall.
• Providing regular progress reports on all of the above to the development manager.
• Checking all construction issue information.
• Monitoring the drawing production progress.
• Managing the information flow.
• Managing the incorporation of any comments.
• Checking the drawings and confirm approvals for the issue.
• Liaising with document controller for publication and down-loading of drawings.
• Ensuring the correct drawing procedure.
• Providing a report on planning and process.
• Ensuring correct specification as advised.
• Liaising with planning manager.
• Providing input into O&M manuals.
• Assisting in the provision of an effective and efficient, high-quality engineering design
• Ensuring that all information relating to projects and assets is accurately recorded and stored appropriately.

Qualifications

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Specifications:

• A proven track record of delivering high quality development management services across the full project lifecycle
• University Educated and Professionally qualified
• 10 years of design / development experience
• Ability to handle heavy workload, and work effectively within a team
• Proficient usage of MS Programs Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken) and a high degree of numeracy and literacy
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent presentation skills
• Great leadership skills
• Autocad, Revit, InDesign, 3d modelling and Photoshop
