VCUarts Qatar Interior Design is seeking a Designer in Residence.
The VCUarts Qatar Interior Design Designer-in-Residence Program brings practitioners and/or design academics to work within the Department of Interior Design as designers-in-residence. This international fellowship aims to bring the best in talent from an international context to benefit our Interior Design students and community in VCUarts Qatar.
The DiR for the Interior Design program will engage in research, teaching, and mentorship. Together with faculty, students, and visiting designers the DiR will help cultivate a community of scholarly and creative practice. The Designer-in-Residence also contributes to the development of pedagogic and community infrastructures that sustain studio culture, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and build bridges with industry.
The 2025-26 Designer in Residence will ideally be an expert in entrepreneurship, materials and FF&E, holding MA or MFA, and possibly PhD, with industry and university teaching experience, robust knowledge of the local industry and landscape and a familiarity with the MENA region.
The 2025-26 Designer-in-Residence will teach within the Interior Design Department in the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters and work on departmental projects related to entrepreneurship, community infrastructures (including FF&E Lab), lead workshops and modules in speciality areas, as well as support curricular development in collaboration with IDES faculty and involving students.
