POSITION SUMMARY

The Development & Communications Coordinator I supports the Foundation’s fundraising and outreach efforts by assisting with social media, newsletters, and donor communications. This position works closely with the Coordinator II and Executive Director to implement a communications calendar, engage with partners and supporters online, contribute to newsletters and reports, and help steward donor and sponsor relationships.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The Development & Communication Coordinator I will report directly to the Executive Director.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the development & execution of an annual social media calendar
  • Create engaging content to reach students, families, donors, and community partners
  • Assist in developing an annual communication plan aligned with the social media calendar
  • Draft newsletters and related email communications for events and campaigns
  • Champion the Foundation’s storytelling efforts
  • Support communications that highlight the Foundation’s initiatives & strategic plan, including youth led social media campaigns during heritage and culture months
  • Help the Foundation stay relevant on digital platforms, including exploring new engagement opportunities
  • Donor development and campaign support
  • Write grants and reports
  • Perform related duties as assigned

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • 2-3 years of experience managing social media for a brand or organization, including writing copy/newsletters
  • Strong writing, storytelling and oral communications skills
  • High professional and ethical standards, ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple projects with a high attention to detail
  • Ability to engage with diverse communities, and demonstrated commitment to justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows based computer applications
