Position Summary:

Responsible for assisting the Development Director in all fundraising activities – not limited to creating and distributing marketing materials that are on brand through an array of channels, generating donations through online giving portals, supporting annual fundraising events, and assist with grant writing and management.

Essential Job Functions:

Marketing

  • Create content for social media, mailings, appeals, etc. – all communication and materials that are to be distributed through the SHFB channels for donors and funders
  • Maintain brand standards on all documents, materials, and products of SHFB
  • Manage social media platforms, including:
  • Post content on all platforms on a regular basis related to development, donor relations, and fundraising
  • Design content related to appeals, newsletters, fundraising events
  • Design and order all marketing materials including staff uniforms, collateral materials, and work with vendors accordingly
  • Maintain staff brand awareness through apparel, name badge, headshots, business card, etc.
  • Maintain updates on website
  • Manage all digital marketing campaigns including google ads, boosted Facebook post

Grant Support

  • Support the Development Director’s efforts to foster a culture of philanthropy and fund development within SHFB.
  • Assist the Development Director in grant writing and management of up to 25 grants annually, including application, tracking, and reporting processes.
  • Maintain a pipeline and calendar for grant opportunities.

Storytelling Media

  • Capture videos, photos, and testimonials for one (1) neighbor or agency story in each county (Clark, Champaign, and Logan) each month
  • Edit photos and videos into content suitable for all social media platforms (YouTube, LinkedIn, and Facebook)
  • Maintain all media wavier forms and documentation
  • Uphold ethical storytelling standards to allow neighbors, pantry operators, etc. to maintain autonomy and dignity

Cause Marketing

  • Point of contact for Cause Marketing events and programs. Include efforts through Feeding America and local partners
  • Identify opportunities for the food bank to collaborate with other non-profits, government agencies, and community organizations to strengthen their cause-related initiatives.
  • Monitor the success of cause marketing campaigns through metrics like engagement rates, donations received, volunteer participation, and other relevant KPIs. Prepare reports on the impact of these campaigns.

Fundraising Events

  • Plan and execute with Outreach Specialist, annual fundraisers – Empty Bowls (Clark, Champaign, and Logan Counties), Harvest Breakfast, and Dessert Auction.
  • Oversee and assign tasks for staff assisting with sponsorship and vendor coordination
  • Create all marketing materials for events, including programs, mailers, call-to-action cards, sponsorship signage, t-shirts, etc.
  • Support the main point of contact for all fundraising events
  • Online Fundraising
  • Support online fundraising initiatives through The Giving Block, Global Giving, etc.

Support of Agency Mission and Operations:

  • Learn and adhere to all Feeding America and AIB required standards.
  • Receive and maintain ServSafe certification.
  • Work with volunteers and other staff to increase efficiencies of the operation.
  • Assist in rapid recognition and resolution of general and food safety issues.
  • Participate in AIB certification.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Certifications:

  • College Degree and 1-3 years of related work experience

  • Ability to effectively manage numerous projects simultaneously and work independently.
  • Ability to build relationships with distribution partners and professional organizations as critical to effective work.
  • Ability to effectively communicate required standards in a style of coaching and employee support, engagement, and recognition.
  • Ability to address conflict in a respectful manner.
  • Ability to adequately respond to requests and demands in a timely manner and consistently follow through on projects and issues.
  • Demonstrated skills in effective communication and listening.
  • Demonstrated ability to record and provide written reports.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and responsive to change and modifying plans/strategies as needed to best meet the needs of those involved.

· Valid state issued driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance.

Work Environment: Typical office and warehouse environment, with regular exposure to excessive noise, adverse environmental issues, and cooler/freezer temperatures.

Physical Demands: Position requires physical exertion to sit, stand, walk, stoop, verbal, and written communication by phone or in person. Maximum unassisted lift 50 lbs., normal lift <40 lbs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
