A Dialysis Technician operates and maintains dialysis equipment to filter waste from a patient's blood, monitors patients during treatment, and performs pre- and post-treatment procedures. Their role includes preparing the machine, taking vital signs, educating patients, and ensuring a clean and safe environment. They work under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians to provide effective care for patients with kidney failure. Core responsibilities

  • Equipment preparation: Assemble, test, and prepare dialysis machines and equipment before each treatment. This includes making sure all settings and the water treatment system are functioning correctly.
  • Patient monitoring: Observe patients before, during, and after their dialysis treatment, monitoring vital signs and for any adverse reactions.
  • Treatment execution: Connect and disconnect patients from the dialysis machine, and make adjustments to treatment parameters like fluid removal rates as directed.
  • Patient education and support: Explain the dialysis process to patients and their families and answer their questions.
  • Equipment and environment maintenance: Sanitize and disinfect equipment and maintain a clean, sterile treatment area.
  • Documentation: Record patient treatment details, including vital signs and any issues that arise.
  • Collaboration: Work with nurses and doctors to ensure patients receive appropriate and coordinated care.
  • Responding to emergencies and troubleshooting equipment issues.
  • Performing quality control checks on machines and water quality.
  • Assisting with patient needs like positioning or personal hygiene during treatment.
