Diesel Mechanic (Full-Time)

Pay: Starting at $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM (1-hour lunch)
Overtime: As needed, including occasional Saturdays
Location: Channelview, TX

Requirements (Must-Have)

• STRONG experience working on Freightliner semi-trucks (Columbia & Cascadia)
• STRONG experience working on 48’ & 53’ trailers (brakes, air systems, structural components)
• MUST own your own tools.
• Ability to diagnose AND fully repair ANY mechanical or electrical issue from start to finish
• Ability to work independently with little to no supervision

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled, well-rounded Diesel Mechanic who can handle ALL aspects of equipment repair and maintenance. This is not an entry-level position—we are looking for a true “do-it-all” mechanic who is confident diagnosing and repairing issues across multiple types of equipment with 5 years of experience.

While this role involves working on a wide variety of equipment, a heavy emphasis is placed on Freightliner semi-trucks and trailers. The ideal candidate is extremely comfortable and experienced in these areas while still being capable of working on all other equipment in the fleet.

Key Responsibilities

- Diagnose, repair, and maintain Freightliner Columbia and Cascadia trucks (HIGH PRIORITY)

- Perform full repairs on 48’ and 53’ trailers including brake systems, air systems, and components

- Replace and repair ALL mechanical and electrical components as needed

- Perform complete brake jobs including chambers, drums, shoes, and air system repairs

- Diagnose and repair DEF systems, electrical faults, fuel systems, and hydraulic systems

- Work on light-duty trucks (F150, F250, F350)

- Service and repair heavy equipment including wheel loaders (John Deere 644K, CAT 966H, CAT 962G)

- Operate and repair forklifts (Taylor, Hyster, CAT, etc.)

- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals

- Identify, source, and order correct parts independently

- Perform preventative maintenance and full system diagnostics

- Operate manual transmission trucks and connect/disconnect trailers safely

Requirements

- Minimum 3–5 years of diesel mechanic experience

- Extremely strong diagnostic ability (mechanical & electrical)

- Proven ability to complete repairs from start to finish without assistance

- Strong knowledge of Freightliner trucks and trailer systems

- Ability to operate heavy equipment (forklifts and wheel loaders)

- Ability to drive manual transmission trucks

- Own tools REQUIRED

- Strong computer skills and ability to use maintenance software

- Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical diagrams

- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment

- Ability to stand for long periods and work in a non-A/C environment

- Reliable transportation

- Must pass a background check and drug screening

Preferred Qualifications

- CDL (not required but a plus)
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Experience with advanced diagnostic scan tools
- Fleet maintenance experience
