Hospital Dietitian will provide nutritional assessments, counseling, and meal planning services to patients admitted to the hospital. The role involves working closely with the medical team to support patients in managing their conditions, improving recovery, and ensuring proper nutritional intake. The Dietitian will also educate patients and staff on the importance of nutrition in health and recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Nutritional Assessment: Perform detailed assessments of patients' nutritional needs, considering their medical conditions, treatment plans, and dietary restrictions.
- Dietary Plans: Develop personalized, medically appropriate nutrition care plans for patients based on their diagnosis, treatment, and preferences.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and families on proper nutrition, food choices, and dietary guidelines specific to medical conditions (e.g., diabetes, heart disease, gastrointestinal disorders, etc.).
- Collaboration: Work in close collaboration with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and address any dietary concerns.
- Monitoring & Adjustments: Monitor patients’ progress and make adjustments to their nutrition care plans as necessary.
- Dietary Therapy: Provide specialized dietary advice to patients with conditions like cancer, renal failure, malnutrition, and metabolic disorders.
- Meal Planning: Ensure hospital menus and patient meals meet nutritional needs, dietary restrictions, and food safety standards. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure proper preparation and delivery of meals.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate, detailed records of dietary assessments, care plans, and patient progress. Prepare reports for medical staff or management.
- Patient Discharge: Provide discharge planning to ensure patients understand their dietary needs after leaving the hospital and offer follow-up services as required.
- In-service Training: Conduct educational sessions for hospital staff, including dietetic interns, nursing staff, and medical teams, about nutrition practices and patient care.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of Experience
Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of medical nutrition therapy and the ability to apply it to various medical conditions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients and healthcare teams.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities to manage multiple patient cases.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to healthcare regulations.
- Ability to educate and motivate patients to follow nutrition recommendations.
