Job Summary and Qualifications

HCA Healthcare is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Director to support the Vice President of Expanse Clinical Content in advancing the strategic development and optimization of the Meditech Expanse platform. This role will lead initiatives that enhance clinical workflows, improve decision-making, and elevate the overall user experience for clinicians across the enterprise.

A key initial responsibility includes driving the execution of the Expanse Order Set Strategy which will focus on the clinical quality, design, implementation strategies, and optimization of HCA’s Expanse Order Set Library. The Director will be chiefly responsible for proactively evaluating where content and designs of the order set library require evolution to best serve the needs of our practicing clinicians. This work will involve extensive collaboration with clinicians, informaticists, governance & build teams, and leaders across the enterprise to ensure Expanse Order Sets enhance clinical workflow while following evidence-based practices.

This role also encompasses broader informatics leadership. The Director will collaborate closely with clinicians, informaticists, and software developers to design and implement innovative enhancements to the Expanse platform. These enhancements include, but are not limited to, clinical decision support (CDS) interactions, advanced data visualization methodologies for widgets and flowsheets, and workflow enhancements to improve clinician efficiency, usability, and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a principal clinical informatics leader under the VP of Clinical Content, guiding the evolution of the Expanse platform.
• Drive the clinical quality and relevance of the Expanse Order Set Library, ensuring alignment with evidence-based practices and clinician needs.
• Partner with software developers and product teams to design and implement new platform features
• Collaborate with implementation teams to develop strategies that support smooth adoption of new tools and content.
• Lead prioritization efforts for order set and platform enhancements in alignment with go-live timelines and clinical impact.
• Engage with provider champions and end-users to gather feedback and refine content and tools post-implementation.
• Explore and integrate AI tools to support content development, auditing, and standards alignment.
• Define and track success metrics in collaboration with Process Engineering and Analytics teams.
• Support change management and communication efforts to ensure effective rollout of new features and strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree, required
• Master’s degree in relevant field (e.g. Masters in Clinical Informatics), preferred
• 7+ years relevant experience in healthcare leadership
• Clinical background (MD, PA/NP/RN/RPh/PharmD)
• EHR experience (MEDITECH, Epic, Cerner, etc.), required
• Travel required up to 25%
