Job Summary:

The Director IT Field Services reports to the Executive Director IT Communication Services Operations. This individual leads teams that deliver IT field services support, capacity planning, support application and technical platforms supporting infrastructure planning and business continuity and disaster recovery services. This leader develops near-term tactical plans and a strategic, longer-range roadmap to increase automation, improve efficiency and service quality, and reduce overall cost of ownership. Establishes measurable goals, objectives and operating procedures for enterprise end user devices and peripherals. The Director supports the strategic business plans, applications, and all related matters for computerized information technology for departments and facilities. Manages customer deliverables and expectations as they relate to day-to- day support and operations. Design, implement, and maintain the organization's end user devices and peripherals. Provides an architectural framework for information system development, maintenance, and enhancement efforts. Understands user and process requirements and ensures those requirements can be achieved through high quality deliverables. Works closely with systems administrators and engineers to develop road maps for applications, align development plans, and to ensure effective integration among information systems and the IT infrastructure. Monitor technological advancements to ensure that solutions are continuously improved, supported, and aligned with industry and company standards as well as emerging business requirements. Understand the interactions between systems, applications, and services within the environment, and evaluate the impact of changes or additions.


Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Direct the activities of individual reporting directly to the Director.
    • a.Works closely with Enterprise Project Managers, Director of Technology, VP’s and CIO to meet system strategic and tactical goals and objectives.
    • b. Directs a staff responsible for systems implementation and support.
    • c. Maintains a highly competent staff to meet the objectives and strategies.
    • d. Directs the development of training programs for management. Plans and directs the hiring, training and development, and/or dismissal of personnel, appraises subordinates and administers promotions and position reviews.
    • e.Recruit, train, retain, and lead high-performance team managers with fulltime and contract resources that deliver highly reliable, cost-effective, desktop, IT security and application services to WellStar locations.
    • f.Effectively communicates to the executive team how technology can enable new business initiatives and strategies and drive generation of new revenue streams.

  • Manage financial and operational governance.
    • a.Identifies, prioritizes, and escalates contractual issues to the vendor that impact clinical, financial, administrative business, and infrastructure related process in a timely manner.
    • b. Resolves non-routine questions or situations that arise in the departments related to contracts.
    • c. Manage financial and operational governance of contractors and consultants.
    • d. Provides Information Systems Management with progress reports of scheduled projects; consults with management regarding the direction of the enterprise and changes schedules appropriately.
    • e. Develops and maintain Capital and Operational budgetary requirements for appropriate projects and operational tasks.
    • f. Schedules and conducts meetings to identify process improvements and unusual occurrences.
    • g. Administers services contracts, sponsors initiatives to support virtualized environment using a virtualized application delivery strategy
    • h. Reviews RFP, RFQ, RFI, for data and voice network services.
    • i. Develop IS policy & procedures.

  • Participates and/or directs the development of long range plans in systems and Network, Telecommunication, and Security
    • a.Prepares budgets and related financial documents, and is responsible for the attainment of a high return on all investments.

  • Actively support IS policies, procedures and initiatives.
    • a. Attends User Group and education programs to keep abreast of current and future applications and technology.
    • b. Assists with Joint Commission requirements with respect to Information Systems function.
    • c. Responsible for assisting with HIPAA requirements with respect to Information systems function.
    • d. Provides IT Leadership and Executive team with weekly updates on accomplishments, plans, outages, Service Desk metrics, completed and planned changes.
    • e.Complies with ITIL processes such as Problem, Change, and Configuration Management related to Network, Telecommunication, and Security Operations.
    • f. Fully engaged and monitor IT System Availability metrics and compliance.
    • g. Facilitate and oversee MS Patching compliance standards for servers and endpoints
    • h.Responsible for assisting with Patient Safety requirements with respect to Information systems function
    • i.. Facilitate and oversee consistent compliance with all Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), HIPAA, and PCI audit requirements.
    • j. Solicit performance feedback for constant process improvement.

  • Responsible for developing and managing the implementation of all clinical and financial infrastructure
    • a. Enhance professional growth and development through education programs, workshops or other educational opportunities that may be presented. Keep abreast of current events.

Required Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor of Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field required.


Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):

  • Epic ECSM and ITIL preferred


Required Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years in information technology and or information security, including a minimum of 5 years of experience in a management role required.

  • Minimum 3 years in healthcare preferred.

  • Experience with Security, Networks and Telecom required.

  • Experience implementing complex and integrated information systems required.

  • Technical foundation required.


Required Minimum Skills:

  • Excellent Project Management skills including practical usage of Microsoft Project, knowledge of Basic Network, Telecommunication, and Security Operations, Virtual Application delivery (including operating systems, utilities, Microsoft Office Products, etc.).

  • Strong communication, presentation and customer relation skills. Must have the ability to influence others to work collaboratively to achieve results. Able to understand and relate to the interdependencies/impact of Information Systems on the operation of the WellStar Health System.
