Role Overview
Director of Commissioning is responsible for managing Start-Up Engineering, Commissioning, and International Commissioning Services. The Director of Commissioning leads the planning, recruiting, training, staffing and managing of workforce required to support extremely large projects. These projects include the Start-Up/Commissioning of Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, Generators and Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs), and the associated Auxiliary/Ancillary equipment. Supported projects include equipment supply agreements, integrated power island projects with one or more power trains, and consortium contracts working in partnership with Engineer, Procure and Construct (EPC) contractors within North America, Mexico, and South America.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership
- Oversee all Site Safety Plans, ensure up-to-date Safety Training of all Site personnel, manage the safety training, tracking and reporting systems aiming to maintain a Zero Incident Safety Record.
- Develop cost and schedule estimates for proposals to bid and win equipment supply agreements, commissioning support agreements, and EPC Consortium agreements.
- Demonstrate proposal development work that includes identifying key disciplines, developing staffing mobilization and demobilization plans, establishing site support requirements, identifying and planning for specialized training and developing site-reporting plans.
- Oversee Site Operations associated with providing Technical Field Advisory (TFA) services around start-up, commissioning, operations and testing of Mitsubishi Power Americas supplied equipment and associated system integrations with the Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment.
- Oversee the engineering investigations, root cause analysis, and disposition of site deviations, issuance of non-conformance reports, corrective actions, and warranty claims.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, Real Estate and or equivalent degree from an accredited university.
- 15 years of experience in Gas or Steam Turbine projects, downstream and upstream power projects, and/or major industrial projects.
- 10+ years in leadership roles within field of construction, commissioning, service/maintenance, or power engineering.
- Manage a multi-year budget to maintain Mitsubishi Power Americas quality requirements needed to properly to start, commission, operate and test supplied equipment while minimizing overhead costs and increasing profit margin.
- Create and analyze reports on the progress for each supported job site in their timelines on the completion of commissioning procedures.
- Develop contract compliance test plans and work with Performance Engineering to successfully transition each contract from commissioning to commercial operations.
- Implement continuous process improvement initiatives to improve safety, product quality, and reduce equipment installation, start-up time, and overall cost of site services
- Mentor and manage the personal development of all commissioning personnel, including performance management, hiring and talent development.
- Proficiency both ASME/ ISO testing procedures, and OSHA safety requirements.
- International EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) experience preferred.
- Ability to travel 50%
