ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This professional, creative, and seasoned Director of Engineering to oversee all aspects of engineering, maintenance and grounds. Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to lead, direct and motivate the staff.

Job Requirements:

Responsibilities include: hiring, training, managing and motivating the Engineering team. This position directs the installation and repair of electrical, mechanical and architectural systems throughout the facility to ensure safety and efficiency. This position requires minimum of 5 years experience engineering trade in high-rise and/or hospitality experience. While this position requires a creative, strategic thinker who works with staff members to identify areas that need improvement or enhancement.

  • Annual budget preparation and monthly reviews
  • Contract writing and management
  • In house project management and cost analysis
  • Ability to calculate ROI for modifications to building systems
  • Communicate with City, County, and State Officials and Regulatory bodies regarding matters pertaining to building and system operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret as-built construction drawings.
  • Experience managing a preventive maintenance program for a hotel.

Ensures that department training goals are executed on an on-going basis:

  • Insures that management employees utilize “train the trainer” skills while conducting training programs.
  • Monitors training and follow-up to ensure that all employees received training on and on-going basis.
  • Ensures that management employees receive training.

Additional Responsibilities:

Keeps immediate superior promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance coming to his/her attention so prompt corrective action can be taken when appropriate.

Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives of this position.

Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company team members to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate which will be conductive to maximum employee morale, productivity and efficiency and effectiveness.

Project at all times a favorable image of The Westin Tampa Bay to promote its aims and objectives and foster and enhance public recognition and acceptance of all of its areas of endeavor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Utilizes leadership skills and motivation techniques in order to maximize employee productivity and satisfaction.

  • Interviews and selects qualified employees and provides departmental orientation and training.
  • Conducts employee meetings and counseling sessions in order to maximize employee morale and productivity.
  • Determines and communicates standards of performance to employees. Evaluates employee performance on a regular basis and annually. Recommends salary increases as appropriate.
  • Develops employees to maximize potential and prepare for future promotional opportunities and counsel employees on career development.
  • Ensures that disciplinary action is taken as required ensuring consistency, fairness and respect within framework of established guidelines.
  • This position requires a significant contribution to the hiring and firing decisions for their employees.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

College educational level preferred. Prior experience in a related field is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and manuals as related to the field. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of people or employees. Computer skills required in Microsoft Office.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Certifications and/or licenses in a related field are preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee could be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving operational parts, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
