The Director of Estimating leads all estimating and cost strategy functions for Conductor Power’s renewable energy EPC projects, including solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), high-voltage substations, and transmission installations. This position ensures the development of detailed, accurate, competitive, and risk-aware cost estimates that drive successful project pursuits and profitable execution. The Director provides strategic oversight of the estimating department, builds scalable estimating systems, and ensures alignment with Conductor Power’s quality, safety, and sustainability values.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Director oversees estimators across all business markets and leads multidisciplinary estimating activities encompassing scheduling, estimating, and engineering coordination. As a key culture carrier, this leader models collaboration, integrity, and accountability, reinforcing Conductor Power’s core values across all teams. They foster a culture of teamwork and excellence by establishing clear objectives, mentoring staff, and ensuring alignment with project and company goals. The Director works closely with Engineering, Procurement, Project Management, and Business Development to align cost models with technical design, market dynamics, and project delivery strategy.
Duties & Responsibilities:

Lead estimating efforts for EPC renewable energy projects, including solar PV, BESS, and substation scopes.

Develop and implement standardized estimating procedures, templates, RFP’s, and cost databases specific to renewable EPC projects.

Direct the preparation of detailed and conceptual estimates during all project phases—from early feasibility through final bid.

Coordinate with Engineering to review drawings and specifications, identifying scope gaps, constructability concerns, and value-engineering opportunities.

Analyze market trends, supplier pricing, and labor availability to support competitive cost development.

Oversee subcontractor and vendor solicitation, qualification, and bid evaluation for major scopes of work (civil, electrical, structural, and mechanical).

Collaborate with Procurement and Engineering to align estimating assumptions with long-lead equipment procurement strategies (cable, inverters, steel products, transformers, switchgear, etc.).

Lead internal estimate reviews and bid strategy meetings with senior leadership.

Ensure estimates accurately reflect project risk, schedule constraints, and constructability realities.

Support commercial negotiations and cost validation during EPC contract development.

Maintain estimating data integrity through cost history tracking, benchmarking, and lessons learned from completed projects.

Partner with Preconstruction and Project Management teams to facilitate smooth transitions from bid to execution.

Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical training to the estimating team to strengthen depth and consistency.

Drive innovation through improved estimating tools, data analytics, and digital workflows.

Maintain strict confidentiality of cost data and proprietary information.

Perform other duties as assigned or deemed appropriate.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Minimum 7 years of estimating experience in renewable energy, power delivery, or EPC construction.

Strong understanding of solar and BESS design principles, substation systems, and high-voltage electrical construction.

Deep knowledge of construction means, methods, and cost drivers across civil, electrical, and structural disciplines.

Proficiency with estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid, B2W, InEight, or equivalent.

Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.

Strong analytical and risk assessment capabilities with attention to detail and accuracy.

Proven ability to manage multiple complex bids under tight deadlines.

Excellent communication and leadership skills; able to present cost strategies to executives and clients.

Working knowledge of OSHA and renewable EPC safety considerations.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum of 7–10 years of estimating experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role within renewable EPC or heavy electrical construction.

Experience in design-build, EPC, and lump-sum bid delivery models.
Physical Requirements:

Primarily office-based work requiring frequent computer use.
