Director of Finance

Job Summary:

The Director, Finance is a senior finance leader responsible for overseeing client accounting services across the full portfolio of Troon‑managed facilities. This role provides enterprise‑level leadership for the delivery of accurate, timely, and GAAP‑compliant financial services through a shared‑services and management‑led operating model.

The Director is accountable for setting service delivery strategy, establishing and enforcing policies and controls, and driving operational excellence at scale. They play a central role in shaping how accounting services are delivered across the company, including organizational design, workload strategy, and technology enablement. As a leader of leaders, the Director is responsible for succession planning, talent development, and performance management across multiple teams, while championing continuous improvement, change management, and organizational readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide enterprise‑wide oversight of client accounting operations, ensuring consistent delivery of full‑cycle accounting services across all Troon‑managed facilities, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and accounts payable.
  • Lead and develop a management structure (including Accounting Managers and Regional Accounting Leads, as applicable) that drives accountability, performance, and consistent service delivery across a large, multi‑location portfolio.
  • Define and execute company‑wide strategies for service quality, internal controls, technology enablement, and operational scalability in partnership with Finance leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) that clearly define roles, responsibilities, workflows, and handoffs across Regional Accounting Leads, Shared Accountants, and Accounts Payable teams.
  • Serve as a senior technical and policy authority, ensuring GAAP compliance, regulatory alignment, and consistent accounting treatment across contracts, facilities, and service models.
  • Own workforce and capacity strategy across customer finance operations, including performance management, succession planning, career development pathways, and workload distribution.
  • Evaluate, select, and implement systems, tools, and technologies that improve accuracy, efficiency, reporting visibility, and control across an enterprise shared‑services environment.
  • Define, monitor, and drive performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) related to timeliness, accuracy, compliance, service quality, and client satisfaction.
  • Lead accounting transitions and service model changes for newly onboarded facilities, contract changes, system implementations, and internal process redesigns, ensuring smooth execution and risk mitigation.
  • Champion continuous improvement and change management, leading teams through operational, technological, and organizational change with clarity, structure, and engagement.
  • Represent Customer Finance Operations in cross‑functional initiatives, building strong partnerships with Operations, Legal, HR, Technology, and senior leadership across the organization.

Qualifications:

Required Experience:

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, including significant senior leadership experience overseeing managers and multi‑team operations.
  • Demonstrated success leading enterprise‑scale accounting or finance functions in a multi‑entity, shared‑services, or multi‑location environment.
  • Proven ability to design and govern service delivery models, internal controls, and scalable accounting operations across complex portfolios.

Preferred Experience:

  • CPA designation and/or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
  • Experience in hospitality, golf, club management, or contract‑based service organizations.

Knowledge and Skills:

Required:

  • Strong strategic leadership capability with the ability to align operational execution to enterprise objectives.
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and accounting service delivery models.
  • Experience working with enterprise financial systems, reporting tools, and ERP environments.
  • Ability to translate financial, operational, and performance data into actionable insights and decisions.
  • Excellent communication, influence, and stakeholder management skills across all organizational levels.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and/or similar enterprise ERP platforms.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform or other automation, workflow, and reporting technologies.
  • Demonstrated expertise in change management, process standardization, and large‑scale transformation initiatives.


Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
