Position SummaryThe Director of Marketing & Communications leads Mercy’s strategic messaging, brand management, and storytelling efforts across all audiences, including prospective students/families, current students/families, alumnae, donors, and the broader community. This position ensures consistent, mission-centered communication that advances enrollment, philanthropy, and institutional reputation.
Primary Responsibilities
Strategic Communications
- Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy aligned with institutional priorities.
- Serve as brand steward, ensuring consistent voice, visual identity, and messaging across all channels.
- Create and manage editorial calendar and content strategy.
- Develop a strategic dashboard to track/evaluate key marketing/communication strategies
- Leverage technology tools to create branding messages
Content Development
- Oversee production of print and digital materials including newsletters, annual reports, appeal materials, event collateral, website content, and social media.
- Lead storytelling initiatives that highlight student success, alumnae impact, and donor philanthropy.
- Collaborate closely with Advancement to support fundraising campaigns.
Digital & Media Strategy
- Oversee website strategy, content updates, and optimization.
- Manage social media strategy and analytics.
- Coordinate media relations and external communications.
- Monitor engagement metrics and adjust strategies accordingly.
Internal Collaboration
- Partner with Enrollment, Advancement, and school leadership to align messaging with institutional goals.
External Collaboration
- Manage external vendors including designers, photographers, printers, and agencies as needed.
- Establish community partnerships to promote the Mercy brand
- Develop/participate in a network with local and regional peers to identify best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field.
- 2-3 years of progressive experience in marketing or communications
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling ability.
- Experience managing brand strategy and multi-channel campaigns.
- Strategic thinker with strong project management skills.
- Willingness to explore technology tools to assist with efficiency/effectiveness
- Passion for Mercy’s mission and Catholic education.
- Strong communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups
Full-time, on-site.
Occasional weekend and evenings may be required
Salary Range: $55,000-$65,000, based on experience and qualifications
