Director of Operations

Remote, United States

Role Overview (Fully-Remote): Mystery Tackle Box (MTB) is seeking a Director of Operations to own our end-to-end physical ops—from demand/production planning through inbound, kitting, and outbound shipping—so every box arrives on time, in full, and on budget. Serve as the main point of contact between MTB, our 3PL (Productiv), and carriers to optimize cost, quality, and service. You will run the S&OP cadence, translate forecasts into finite production schedules, and strengthen WMS/EDI processes to support both B2B and DTC channels. You will be accountable for reliability metrics (OTIF, transit costs, damage/shortage rate, and cost per kit) and retail compliance (e.g., routing, labeling, packaging and EDI accuracy). This is a remote role with periodic to regular travel to our 3PL and vendor sites.

  • Partner with 3PL to establish SOP’s and performance plans for receiving, production, shipping and inventory management that support the overall supply chain
  • Create an effective production model that both maintains a strong 3PL partnership and maximizes output while maintaining a high standard of quality
Department Leadership
  • Leadership of the 3PL and operational teams to ensure efficient and effective daily operations

Ideal Experience & Skills
  • 7+ years in high-volume pick/pack or light manufacturing—subscription, CPG, or 3PL environments preferred.
  • Demonstrated S&OP ownership: forecasting, capacity planning, finite scheduling.
  • Proven track record reducing freight & operational costs while improving OTIF.
  • Hands-on experience with WMS (Extensiv/3PL Central a plus) and EDI.
  • Strong analytical chops—comfortable modeling scenarios in Excel/Sheets and pushing quick scripts when needed.
  • Negotiation ninja: carriers, corrugate, and co-packers respect (and fear) your facts.
  • Leadership style that is equal parts builder, coach, and fire-fighter—able to keep teams calm during flash-sales and vendor surprises.
  • Experience with large format customers: particularly vendor compliance guides, labeling/RFID/packaging and shipping standards, EDI and routing/transportation systems.
  • Prior experience in an outdoor industry supplier environment preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree and prior management experience required
