Director of Retail

Robert Half is looking for an accomplished Director of Retail to drive commercial growth and strengthen strategic partnerships across major retail channels at our client located in the Philadelphia area. This Director of Retail role will shape go-to-market plans, guide revenue performance, and identify new opportunities to expand market presence with key grocery, mass, and club accounts. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical judgment, customer-facing leadership, and a proven ability to translate market insights into effective sales strategies.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead a multi-channel retail strategy spanning natural, conventional, mass, and club accounts to accelerate sales performance.
  • Set clear commercial objectives for revenue, distribution, and sales productivity, and track results through defined metrics and performance dashboards.
  • Evaluate regional, retailer, and category trends to uncover untapped growth opportunities and refine channel priorities.
  • Direct annual business planning, including sales forecasting, trade investment decisions, and account-level growth plans.
  • Use syndicated market data and internal reporting to inform recommendations, support buyer discussions, and strengthen category storytelling.
  • Build and manage senior-level relationships with key retail partners while leading joint business planning and long-term account development.
  • Oversee the full account lifecycle, including prospecting, presentations, negotiations, line reviews, and in-market execution.

The ideal Director of Retail will have a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field.


Other requirements for the Director of Retail role include and are not limited to:

  • 10+ years of progressive CPG retail sales experience
  • Proven success managing national and regional retail accounts across multiple channels
  • Strong analytical skills with syndicated data platforms
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM systems
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills
