Director of Sales

Wyndham Doha West Bay is now looking for a Director of Sales to join their team!


SUMMARY


The Director of sales will lead and drive the hotel’s sales strategy to maximize revenue, market share, and business growth across all segments. He/she will ensure alignment with overall commercial and brand objectives.


This position will require a high-performing and commercially driven leader to oversee the hotel’s sales function and drive revenue growth across all market segments. The role holder will be responsible for building a strong sales pipeline, managing key accounts, and leading a motivated sales team to consistently exceed targets.


The incumbent will demonstrate strong relationship-building skills, deep market knowledge, and a results-oriented approach, combined with a strong passion for hospitality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Develop and execute the overall sales strategy aligned with revenue targets and business objectives.
  • Identify new business opportunities and key market segments to drive revenue growth.
  • Drive performance across all segments, including corporate, leisure, MICE, and groups.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Collaborate with Revenue Management to optimize pricing, inventory, and distribution strategies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Conduct sales calls, site inspections, and client presentations to secure new and repeat business.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to maximize profitability and long-term partnerships.
  • Represent the hotel at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions.
  • Develop and manage key accounts to ensure sustained business growth.
  • Prepare and implement the annual sales plan and budget.
  • Set clear sales targets and KPIs for the team and monitor performance regularly.
  • Analyze sales data, pipeline, and conversion rates to drive strategic decisions.
  • Produce regular sales reports, forecasts, and performance updates for management.
  • Implement corrective actions to address performance gaps and maximize results.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the sales team to achieve individual and team objectives.
  • Set clear goals, monitor performance, and provide regular coaching and feedback.
  • Foster a high-performance, results-driven culture within the team.
  • Ensure ongoing training and development aligned with brand and business needs.
  • Work closely with Marketing, Revenue, and Operations teams to align commercial strategies.
  • Support promotional campaigns and initiatives to drive demand.
  • Ensure seamless coordination between departments to enhance client experience and satisfaction.



Leadership


  • Maintaining a business environment based on the Code of Conduct and Company Vision
  • Maintain and enhance the open-door policy to all team members providing advice and guidance when needed in regard to their issues or concerns and/or grievances
  • Responsible for People leadership of direct reports (recruitment and selection, performance management (Appraisal/PDP), Team member development and motivation, counselling / disciplinary issues.
  • Conduct regular coaching sessions/1:1s with direct reports.


Human Resources

  • Ensure that your department is fully compliant with Wyndham people processes and deadlines that govern all Wyndham properties. E.g. WES, Success Matters, Probation reviews etc.
  • Ensure that the administration of the probation review process in your department and ensure that follow-up for all issues is done in timely manner and results of both follow-up and the initial reviews are communicated to all relevant parties
  • Talent Reviews taken place as per the communicated timeline and are live in the business
  • Ensure 100% compliance with all mandatory training for your department; as well as the Departmental Trainers are positively encouraged
  • Control the LTO, Absence and Payroll in your department in conjunction with the HR Leader on property to ensure that any areas of concern and monitored and rectified to meet the HR BSC Targets.
  • Manage the WES process in your department, ensure that the follow up meetings are done and the team members have timely feedback.
  • Conduct interviews for relevant roles in conjunction with HR
  • Review manning and re-recruitment of all positions in conjunction with HR
  • Ensure that you dine in the Team Member restaurant at least three times a week and provide HR Leader on property feedback
  • Support WeCom with quarterly People, Community and Sustainability engagement events


Communication

  • Conduct or chair regular communication meetings with team(s) and actively participate in relevant business meetings to facilitate effective communication.
  • Conducted documented 121’s with all direct reports
  • Share all relevant information with GM & HR in 121’s
  • Attend ExCom Meetings
  • Attend Business Review Meeting
  • Quarterly Hotel Meeting


Finance

  • Plan and track departmental budget
  • Plan and track departmental holidays and lieu days as per the needs of the business
  • Review with the Finance Leader/HR Leader the payroll figures (and challenge the HOD’s with regards to overspending and casual usage)
  • Ensure that the payroll is submitted to HR on the agreed date


Management

  • Train and develop the team and provide support when required
  • Ensure all direct reports have a PDP to achieve their goals
  • Ensure that effective communication flow is maintained at all times
  • Actively participate in the community involvement projects and initiatives together with the hotel’s management team
  • Maintaining a business environment based on the Code of Conduct and Company Vision

EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION & EDUCATION


  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience working in the similar position in 4-5 star hotel sales, with leadership responsibility.
  • Proven track record in achieving revenue targets and driving business growth.
  • Strong knowledge of hotel sales segments, distribution channels, and market dynamics.
  • In-depth knowledge of the local market.
