Director of Technology

Position Overview

ASAP Results is seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking Director of Technology to lead all aspects of the company’s technology infrastructure, software development coordination, and data security. This role is responsible for ensuring that all systems supporting clinical operations, patient data, and logistics are secure, scalable, and efficient.

The ideal candidate brings a strong blend of hands-on technical expertise (software + hardware), healthcare IT experience, and leadership, with a deep understanding of HIPAA compliance and PHI security. This individual must also be capable of coding, managing distributed development teams, and driving complex technology projects from concept to execution.

Key Responsibilities: Technology Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute the company’s overall technology strategy aligned with business and operational goals
  • Oversee all IT infrastructure, software systems, and platform integrations
  • Evaluate and implement scalable solutions to support growth across multiple regions and service lines
  • Serve as the primary technology advisor to executive leadership

Healthcare IT & Compliance

  • Ensure all systems and processes comply with HIPAA and other applicable healthcare regulations
  • Design and maintain secure environments for handling Protected Health Information (PHI)
  • Implement and monitor data protection strategies including:
  • Encryption (data at rest and in transit)
  • Access controls and user permissions
  • Audit logs and monitoring systems
  • Conduct regular security risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies
  • Maintain Business Associate Agreement (BAA) compliance across all platforms and vendors

Software Development & Systems Management

  • Lead the development, maintenance, and optimization of internal and external platforms (e.g., intake portals, LIMS integrations, reporting dashboards)
  • Collaborate with and manage remote/offshore developers and vendors, ensuring alignment with company requirements
  • Write, review, and contribute to code when necessary (backend, frontend, or integrations)
  • Establish coding standards, documentation practices, and deployment workflows
  • Oversee API integrations between systems such as LIMS, billing platforms, and intake tools

Hardware & Infrastructure Management

  • Oversee procurement, setup, and maintenance of IT hardware including:
  • Workstations, laptops, and mobile devices
  • Networking equipment
  • On-site and remote connectivity solutions
  • Ensure uptime, reliability, and performance of all systems
  • Implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans

Project Management

  • Lead end-to-end technology projects, including:
  • System implementations
  • Platform upgrades
  • Security enhancements
  • Develop project timelines, milestones, and deliverables
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams (Operations, Compliance, Billing, etc.)
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
  • Track and report progress to executive leadership

Data & Systems Optimization

  • Build and maintain reporting infrastructure and dashboards for operational insights
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and accessibility across platforms
  • Identify opportunities to automate workflows and improve efficiency

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in IT leadership, preferably in healthcare or diagnostics
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • HIPAA regulations and PHI security best practices
  • Healthcare systems (LIMS, EHR, billing platforms)
  • Cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or similar)
  • Hands-on coding experience (e.g., Python, JavaScript, SQL, or similar)
  • Experience managing remote or distributed development teams
  • Proven ability to lead complex technical projects

Preferred

  • Experience in laboratory or diagnostic services environment
  • Familiarity with platforms such as LIMSABC, Office Ally, or similar systems
  • Certifications in security or cloud (e.g., CISSP, AWS Certified Solutions Architect)
  • Experience building or scaling healthcare technology platforms
