Dispatcher, Houston

UOVO, the nation’s leading storage and services provider for art, archives, and collectibles seeks a Dispatcher to join its dynamic and growing team. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and communication skills, experience working in Houston art services and transportation industries and will be comfortable scheduling and project managing daily transport operations for UOVO’s trucking fleet. The Dispatcher will report to UOVO’s Technical Services Supervisor.


Core Responsibilities


  • Efficient scheduling of all Transport work in conjunction with the Technical Services Supervisor and the Transportation Coordinators, including but not limited to deliveries, collects, offsite installations and de-installations, large-scale pack jobs and art fairs, prioritizing safety of property and positive client experience.
  • Manage and allocate art handler/driver assignments on UOVO’s operational systems, ensuring all Transport team members have the information necessary to complete their daily assignments.
  • In coordination with the Technical Services Supervisor, assess Transport labor needs daily, liaising with adjacent departments to ensure overall efficiency on shared manpower needs.
  • Ability to work on-site and off-site as needed for client requests.
  • Escalate any labor-related concerns to the Technial Services Supervisor as needed.
  • Accurate updates and tracking of daily truck deliveries, collections and installations and offsite art logistics.
  • Liaise between various departments to problem solve and prepare for upcoming work, providing timely feedback when required.
  • Daily client communication via confirmation emails which clearly summarize the scope of upcoming service requests.
  • Work across various departments to problem solve and prepare for upcoming work.
  • Schedule art handler/driver assignments and driving hours in accordance with DOT regulations and internal man-hour tracking.
  • Adhere to all company policies and ethical standards.
  • In conjunction with other key stakeholders, work with other UOVO locations to streamline product offerings and establish best practices as it pertains to scheduling.
  • Other tasks as assigned by Manager.

Qualifications & Skills


  • Ability to work in a fast paced, detail-oriented, dynamic environment
  • Experience handling 2D and 3D artworks
  • Excellent customer service as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to balance being a team player and taking initiative when necessary
  • Ability to push and pull 150 pounds on a dolly or cart, as well as 50 pounds without mechanical aid
  • Ability to carry 40 pounds of varying size and shape up to a distance of 90 feet
  • Ability to stand, walk, squat, bend, kneel, crouch, twist, and reach overhead
  • Ability to be exposed to outside weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain and snow
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift preferred
  • Familiarity with the use of hand trucks, pallet jacks, jbars, dollies, scissor lifts, genie lifts and other necessary warehouse equipment
  • Interest or experience in learning inventory management systems

This in-person position requires on-site presence at UOVO’s Houston facility five days a week with occasional requests to work nights and on weekends.
