Dispatcher

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Dispatcher to join our department. As a dispatcher, you will operate in a secure communications center and will be required to be the point of contact between the public and our law enforcement officers. You will be required to monitor radio traffic while working with multiple computer systems simultaneously.

Duties

• Answer incoming emergency and non-emergency calls for service
• Obtain and document critical information from callers in stressful situations
• Dispatch law enforcement officers and maintain communication to ensure officer safety
• Enter, update and retrieve information from state and national databases (NCIC or similar systems
• Maintain accurate records of calls, incidents and dispatch activity
• Prioritize calls based on urgency and officer safety
• Provide information and assistance to the public when appropriate
• Remain calm and professional during high-stress or emergency situations

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Strong communication and listening skills
• Ability to multitask and make quick decisions in high-pressure environments
• Basic computer and data entry skills
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts requiring some weekends and holidays
• Must pass a background check and drug screening

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous dispatch experience preferred but not required
• Familiarity with radio communications a plus
