Dispatcher – Towing & Roadside Services Overview

Key Responsibilities
- Dispatch tow truck operators and roadside technicians based on location, availability, and service priority (tows, jump starts, lockouts, tire changes, fuel delivery, accident recovery).
- Monitor vehicle locations using GPS systems to optimize routes and minimize response times.
- Prioritize emergency and accident-related calls while ensuring driver safety protocols are followed.
- Communicate professionally and empathetically with customers experiencing stressful roadside situations.
- Coordinate with law enforcement, motor clubs, insurance providers, and property owners when necessary.
- Accurately document call details, vehicle information, and service updates in dispatch software.
- Track each job from initial call to completion, ensuring proper documentation for billing and reporting.
- Monitor fleet availability, driver schedules, and equipment readiness to maintain operational efficiency.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and local towing guidelines.
Qualifications
- Prior dispatch experience in towing, roadside assistance, logistics, or emergency services preferred.
- Ability to remain calm, decisive, and solution-oriented in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication skills with strong customer service focus and professional phone etiquette.
- Proficiency with GPS tracking systems and dispatch/data entry software.
- Strong knowledge of local roads, highways, and service areas.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple incoming calls efficiently.
- Basic understanding of towing procedures, vehicle types, and roadside service operations is a plus.
- Reliable, organized, and able to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays if required.
