Dispatcher (Restaurant)

The Food Dispatcher is responsible for managing and coordinating the delivery of food orders from the kitchen to customers in an efficient and timely manner. This role involves assigning delivery tasks to drivers, tracking delivery progress, and ensuring all orders are complete, accurate, and delivered with excellent customer service. The Food Dispatcher plays a critical role in maintaining smooth operations and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and assign food orders to delivery drivers based on order priority, route optimization, and driver availability
• Monitor order preparation times and ensure all orders are dispatched as soon as they are ready
• Track delivery progress using GPS or dispatch software to ensure timely delivery
• Communicate with drivers to provide real-time updates, directions, or support
• Communicate with kitchen staff to ensure food is ready for dispatch and packed correctly
• Handle customer inquiries related to delivery status, order delays, or complaints in a professional manner
• Log and track all deliveries, delivery times, issues, and resolutions
• Report delivery issues (e.g., late orders, incorrect deliveries, vehicle issues) to the appropriate manager
• Ensure drivers are adhering to safety protocols, hygiene standards, and restaurant policies
• Support the recruitment, onboarding, and scheduling of delivery staff when needed

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Prior experience in dispatching, delivery coordination, logistics, or food service preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Familiarity with local routes and traffic conditions
• Basic computer skills and ability to use dispatch, POS, or delivery management software
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
