SUMMARY

The Router/Dispatcher is responsible for developing efficient routing plans and dispatching a group of approximately 20–25 dedicated linehaul and route distribution drivers. This role ensures safe, compliant, and on-time service while optimizing routes, driver utilization, and equipment. The Router/Dispatcher plays a critical role in daily transportation execution, driver communication, and overall operational efficiency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage and dispatch approximately 20–25 dedicated Class A and Class B linehaul and distribution drivers
  • Develop and optimize daily routes using routing software such as Roadnet and Truckmate
  • Utilize operational systems including Roadnet, Truckmate, Motive in-cab technology, and ADP
  • Monitor driver safety performance, Hours of Service (HOS), and DOT compliance
  • Ensure on-time pickups and deliveries while maintaining service level expectations
  • Track inbound and outbound loads to maintain full operational visibility
  • Proactively Communicate load status updates with drivers, customers, and management
  • Coordinate cross-docking activities and trailer movements as required
  • Monitor trailer inventory at company facilities and customer locations
  • Assist with load planning, routing adjustments, and real-time issue resolution
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure timely system updates

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 3-5 years of dispatch or fleet management experience

LANGUAGE ABILITY

Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. MATHEMATICAL ABILITY

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience using Truckmate, Roadnet, Motive ELD, and ADP
  • Has the ability to operate standard office equipment

Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
