E-Commerce Category Manager

Kuwait City, Kuwait

The E-commerce Category Manager is responsible for driving the growth, profitability, and customer experience of assigned product categories within PetsMarket’s online platform. This role covers strategy, assortment planning, vendor management, pricing, promotions, and performance analysis, ensuring alignment with customer needs and business objectives.

Strategy & Category Planning

  • Define the vision and growth strategy for product categories.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and customer behavior to identify opportunities.
  • Build business cases for new product launches or assortment changes.
  • Develop and execute category strategies to achieve sales, margin, and market share targets.

Assortment & Product Mix

  • Define and optimize the product assortment across premium, mid-range, and budget options.
  • Ensure the right balance of core, seasonal, new, and exclusive products.
  • Oversee product listing quality (images, descriptions, attributes) to enhance customer experience.

Supplier & Vendor Management

  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and promotional support with suppliers and vendors.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, brands, and distributors.
  • Ensure reliable supply, stock availability, and efficient procurement.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and drive continuous improvements.

Pricing & Promotions

  • Develop competitive pricing strategies balancing margin and market competitiveness.
  • Plan and manage promotional campaigns (discounts, bundles, seasonal offers) with marketing.
  • Monitor competitors’ pricing and promotions to maintain category advantage.

Performance & Analytics

  • Track and analyze KPIs (sales, margins, stock levels, conversion, inventory turnover, customer satisfaction).
  • Identify underperforming products and decide whether to improve, replace, or discontinue.
  • Use data-driven insights to optimize assortment, pricing, and promotional activities.
  • Prepare performance reports and share insights with senior management.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Operations

  • Partner with supply chain to ensure availability and efficient inventory management.
  • Collaborate with marketing to design and execute category campaigns.
  • Coordinate with digital, content, and IT teams to enhance merchandising, product visibility, and site functionality.
  • Work closely with finance to ensure profitability targets are achieved.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage category P&L (profit & loss)
  • Proven category planning, buying, and merchandising expertise
  • Strong negotiation skills for vendor and supplier management
  • Ability to develop and implement pricing, promotion, and assortment strategies. Understanding of industry trends and customer buying behaviors (preferred)
  • Advanced data analysis and forecasting skills (Excel, BI tools, Google Analytics)
  • Ability to interpret sales, margin, and conversion data to guide decisions
  • Experience in setting up and monitoring KPIs such as sales growth, basket size, and inventory turnover
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills based on data insights
  • Proficiency in e-commerce platforms (Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, or ERP-integrated systems)
  • Knowledge of SEO, SEM, and online merchandising best practices. Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with marketing, logistics, finance, and IT teams
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to influence stakeholders
  • Leadership qualities to mentor and support junior team members
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Good communication in Arabic and English is must.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related field
  • 4–6 years of experience in e-commerce category management, retail buying, or merchandising (pet industry experience preferred).
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP systems, and e-commerce platforms Experience in FMCG, or retail industry is a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: KD650.000 - KD750.000 per month
