Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Editor-in-Chief to lead our editorial team in producing high-quality content that reflects the spirit of Albuquerque. This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of content creation. The ideal candidate should be comfortable in the role of leader; be willing and capable of writing plenty of content each month; and possess editorial vision to help create and maintain a calendar of stories and themes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of the magazine’s editorial vision, ensuring content aligns with our community-focused mission
• Oversee all stages of content production, from conceptualization to final editing, including articles, photographs, and digital media
• Manage a team of editors, writers, photographers, and contributors to foster a collaborative creative environment
• Ensure all content is thoroughly proofread, copy edited, fact-checked, and adheres to the magazine's style guidelines
• Maintain high standards for journalistic integrity through rigorous research and fact-checking practices
• Collaborate with designers to produce engaging layouts and appealing content
• Stay informed about local events and trends to generate relevant story ideas that resonate with our audience

Qualifications

• Proven experience in journalism, editing, or related fields with a strong portfolio demonstrating editorial leadership
• Exceptional proofreading, copy editing, and editing skills with a keen eye for detail
• Extensive knowledge of journalistic style (AP, Chicago)
• Strong communication skills capable of inspiring teams and engaging contributors effectively
• Demonstrated ability in research, fact-checking, and investigative journalism techniques
• Proficiency in word processing software and digital content management tools
• Creative writing talent with an ability to craft compelling narratives across various formats
• Experience and enthusiasm in developing editorial strategies is a plus, both long-range and issue-by-issue

Pay: $36,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
