Role Overview:

The Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer in the Process Operations is responsible for providing expert support in the design, operation, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and instrumentation across oil and gas facilities. This role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant functioning of power distribution, control systems, and field instrumentation. The engineer works closely with operations, maintenance, and project teams to resolve technical issues, support facility upgrades, and optimize system performance. Key responsibilities include reviewing engineering documentation, coordinating with vendors, and contributing to energy efficiency and automation initiatives.


Main Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for electrical systems including switchgear, transformers, motors, MCCs, and UPS systems.
  • Support instrumentation systems such as pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters, control valves, and analyzers.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation issues affecting plant operations and safety.
  • Participate in design reviews and scope development for electrical and instrumentation aspects of projects.
  • Review engineering drawings, loop diagrams, datasheets, and vendor documentation for compliance with standards.
  • Support construction, installation, and commissioning of electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes and standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC, ISA) and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze system performance and recommend improvements for energy efficiency and process control.
  • Understand Asset Integrity Management Framework & Governance Procedures for Electrical, Instrumentation, DCS/SCADA & Custody Transfer Metering Assets on all operated assets to ensure reliability, integrity & asset performance throughout the life cycle.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of automation and control strategies (PLC, DCS, SCADA).
  • Participate in HAZOP, HAZID and SIMOPS sessions and ensure all observations regarding E&I equipment are addressed.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation including specifications, reports, and modification records.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for equipment procurement, installation, and technical evaluations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, process engineering, and HSE to ensure integrated solutions.


Required Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Bachelor's / Master’s in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  • 8-10 years of related experience, preferably in an Oil & Gas Exploration & Production Company.
  • Hands on experience of working on SCADA/DCS/PLC, VFDs, Start-Delta / DOL starters & solar panels.
  • Calibration & troubleshooting of FMDs (Field Measuring Devices) involving pressure, temperature, flow & level controller/transmitters.
  • Maintenance & troubleshooting of control valves i.e., temperature, pressure, level etc.
  • Operation & Maintenance of BMS, Generators & Sync Panels, Motors, Industrial Grade UPS, Transformers etc.
  • Thorough knowledge of SLDs, Electrical & Control Wiring Drawings, PFDs, P & IDs.
  • Hands on experience of Operation, Maintenance & Troubleshooting on custody transfer metering gadgets i.e., Gas Analyzers, GC Controllers, Flow Computers, SOF, JOF etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, written and oral presentation and fluency in English language.
  • Leadership qualities with an ability to influence decisions.
  • Ability to motivate and support direct reports.
  • Multitasking, self-starter and able to take initiatives and capable of achieving results.
  • Effective dealing of complex tasks & situations.
  • A team-player with strong communication skills.
